Hands down, Pit Bulls are the most misunderstood maligned dogs of our day. Every generation has had a "dangerous breed" to fear. The media loves a sure thing and a Pit Bull Mauling headline is always a sure thing. Is it any wonder random people are terrified? As a Labrador-kind-of-girl, my exposure to Pit Bulls was limited to what I heard on the evening news and without any personal experience to draw from, I too was afraid...and then I got educated. I'm not afraid anymore, I'm concerned for the breed.
"We fear that which we do not understand"

>> Pit Bull Advocates for Compassion & Kindness
I began socializing the smallest of the Pit Bull puppies as a SJACS Volunteerand found them to be delightful in many ways. Not only were they uber cute and super squiggly like Bailey was once upon a time, but they were also remarkedly calm, gentle and affectionate. I didn't expect puppies to chill out in my lap but make no mistake, Pit Bulls are big lap dogs. These positive personality traits came as a surprise and inspired me to learn more.
As I aligned myself with other Pit Bull advocates and dog behaviorists, I came to learn many interesting facts about "Temperament Correct" Pit Bulls. I learned the difference between Dog Aggression, Human Aggression, Food Aggression, and Barrier Frustration. And as I researched this controversial breed, I observed and filmed Pit Bull behavior at its best and its worst. It is these experiences that compels me to be the staunch Pit Bull advocate I am today.
